Darron Boatright, Wichita State Athletic Director

Darron Boatright is a native of Marshall County and was named Director of Athletics at Wichita State in 2016 after serving as the department’s chief operating officer, then interim director, since April 2015.

Darron discusses the lessons he learned from his dad while coaching his own son and the challenges of Mark Gottfried to add value to a program while at Murray State University, then onto the wild west atmosphere of the SEC (Southeastern Conference) and the University of Alabama.

There are somethings you do for a paycheck and Darron will tell you there are others that you do for the love of a sport he reveals a personal project and discovery he made that spans generations of Legendary National Championship Basketball Coaches.

Burlin talks about building a program which prepares students to be successful beyond college.  He explains the importance of young players receiving the right kind of instruction so they can develop properly.

JP Roberts the voice behind JP’s Traffic discusses how playing sports provided him lessons that he still carries with him today.  JP played for the 1980 Class 4A State at Large Champion Paducah Tilghman football team during the fall and was a catcher in the spring for the Tornado baseball team.  JP discusses the coaching styles that influenced him as player and how that compelled him to give back.

Randy Wyatt is a Paducah Tilghman High School coach that has won multiple KHSAA State Championships in multiple sports as a coach and an athlete.
Randy describes the mindset that is required to win championships. He provides insights from his early influences on his career.
Many coaches and players excel in a single sport. But Randy Wyatt has a resume that is in very select company by winning championships in football and track as a coach and dominating his track events as an athlete.
What does it take from a player, parent and a coach to bring home championships? It is probably not what you think.

Coach Jim Mizell is on the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Baseball Career Coaching Wins Leaders.

He has a resume of success and involvement that has helped raised the level of expectations for First Region baseball.  With the support of a community, parents and area coaches he was instrumental in assembling  a Junior Varsity system to bridge the gap for developing young players.

Evan Merrick is the Marshall County Football Head Coach.  He is embarking on his second season.  Coach Merrick describes a vision of what the Marshall County Football program can be and  the ground work that has been accomplished in his first season.

Dennis Foust a native of Marshall County played high school basketball as point guard, and founded the Marshall County Little Dribblers program.  If you have been to a Marshall County home basketball game in the past years you will recognize him as the PA announcer.    Dennis provides forty years of insights and inspiration on how to be involved in youth sports and demonstrates a dedication to the development of our kids and a commitment to our community.
